A Slice, A book and a Pint

Sigh, Gone by Phuc Tran

For our latest installment we are proud to feature “Sigh, Gone: A Misfit's Memoir of Great Books, Punk Rock, and the Fight to Fit In” by Phuc Tran, a local Portland author and an amazing tattoo artist.

For anyone who grew up in the eighties, for anyone who loves skateboarding and good music, for anyone who has ever struggled to fit in, you’re going to love this one.

“Phuc Tran has written the Great American Nerd-Punk Boyhood Memoir, a story that’s rollicking and laugh-out-loud funny while also offering a piercingly profound look at race, the challenges of assimilation, and the inherently defiant act of growing up. Earnest, observant, and diamond-sharp, this is a new voice of unmistakable talent.”

It’s not often that we get to ask the author about the perfect pairing to enjoy with their book but since he’s local we asked Phuc. He quickly chose the Moosehead, our loaded specialty pie with red sauce, sweet Italian sausage, pepperoni, red onion, green pepper, fresh mushrooms, and three cheese blend. He also said he enjoys a good Lager or Pilsner with his pizza so we thought our lager from Lone Pine Brewing Company was the perfect choice.

Read local. Eat local. Drink local. Enjoy!
