EVery pizza tells a story

high pine screen printing and embroidery | Standish, Maine

On the morning after the Lewiston tragedy, we woke to find ourselves scrolling through the news and our feeds trying to find out what had happened. It was a sad day for sure. However, the emotional outpouring of love and support for the victims and their families was unanimously positive, genuine and filled with love.

There was one that stood out to us in particular from High Pine Screen Printing and Embroidery:

“We don’t know what to say, so we did what we do best. Proceeds of every shirt sold goes to the Lewiston community. Stay safe and stay strong!”

That was kind of the thing, right?. No one knew what to do. Or what to say.

So they did what they do best. They got to work and created something tangible. Something that could give directly back to the Lewiston community. Something people could wear proudly to show their support. A simple, wonderful t-shirt.

It stuck with us.

As we were making plans for our Lewiston Fundraiser this Friday, November 24 when $1 from every pizza sold at all our locations will be donated back to the Lewiston community, we kept thinking about that shirt. We felt a certain connection to the idea of doing what you do best to help others. For us, that’s making pizza.

So, it seemed like a natural fit to reach out to folks at High Pine and find a way to collaborate on a version of the shirt for our crew to wear on Friday.

They were into it. We were stoked.

Last week we took a drive out to Standish to meet up with the guys at the High Pine shop and check out the progress on the shirt. Of course, we brought lunch. Of course, it was pizza. The Moosehead Pizza to be exact. Good choice, guys.

Nick Alligood is the owner of High Pine. A recent transplant from Tennessee who is just as likely to be found strumming his guitar and singing in that classic Nashville voice, Nick has put down roots here in Maine and created something awesome with his business partner, John Burke. The two entrepreneurs brought in Cody Watts, a highly talented graphic designer - BCKWDS Design Co. - with a wealth of screen printing knowledge, to manage production. High Pine welcomed us into the shop for a visit, some photos and some great conversation.”

Next time you’re in the market for some custom, quality apparel made right here in Maine, you’d be wise to give High Pine a shout. You won’t be disappointed.

And the next time you’re looking to do something to help others, do what you do best. Whatever that may be. You’ll find it comes easy. Always.
